Working mostly in biz-to-biz PR since 1992, Colin has other strings to his bow: technical advertising, direct mail, internet copywriting ... internal and external events, corporate and product literature, newsletters... speechwriting, media analysis, product launches...
His main focus has always been PR, but typically within integrated marketing communications: talk to him about ATL, EDM or SoMe and he responds intelligently. Still, with client coverage from countless trade and technical publications to radio, television and national press, media relations through smart content is probably still his specialist subject.
Life before PR? After six years' military service (in signals intelligence), he earned a mature BSc (Hons) in IT from Salford University before three years at McGraw-Hill, where he had well over one million words published as writer and editor, in 30+ countries.
Since 2007, he has worked for a specialist communications agency serving the building, construction and building services sectors. He directs the PR elements of integrated client programmes, but is increasingly introduced as 'Head of Content' rather than anything else.
